Meet the people behind Allanson Souvenirs.

Allanson Souvenirs, remains a family run business, from its early beginnings over 50 years ago and with a name that is as much as an institution as Queen Victoria Market is itself; this is your destination shop. Originally established by my parents the business formally became Allanson Souvenirs in 2000 when I became the sole proprietor.   With a fantastically stocked store in the heart of the market you are sure to find the perfect gifts and mementos from your travels Down Under on just one of your many visits to our grand market place.  Products are sourced both locally and internationally with the variety and range always sure to please.  Stock changes regularly to keep up with the changing tastes of our customer, with our aim to always bring fresh ideas and concepts for all our visitors.

I have been involved with the business for over 35 years and initially joined my parents in continuing on the family involvement at QVM.  Steve enjoyed a successful career as a chef prior to joining the family business in 2006, and will always be interested in the produce items your may have purchased or looking at grabbing while at QVM.  Both myself and Steve where very excited when our son, Hayden joined us after successfully completing VCE.  As a family we have continued to grow our business and community involvements supporting many Charities.  This culminated in the nomination and recipients of the prestigious Lord Mayors Commendation Award for Operating a Small Business in Melbourne’s CBD for over 25 years.  It was a very exciting achievement for the  entire family.

Community and family are also at the forefront of our family’s motto and we have endeavoured to support those charities that resonant with us. We have proudly supported the Victorian Variety Club Bash since 2016, no doubt you will have seen the Allanson Koala Mascot all throughout the outback on its travels during the bash, and featured on the Allanson Souvenir Instagram page.  Other recent charities proudly supported are the Australian Snow Sculpture team in 2017; Walk for Brain Cancer 2016; Pinchapoo in 2019 and the Backpackbeds for the homeless in 2019, along with Wildlife Victoria during the 2020 Bush Fire Appeal, just to name a few.
